Staircase to Regal Road, Acrylic on Canvass. 3'x5' - SOLDA place to lose oneself.  Regal Road is up near St. Claire and Dufferin in one of the fancy neighbourhoods that speckle the city.  A hidden gem. This is perfectly Toronto to me.

The Ice Storm. Acrylic on Canvass. 5.5'x3' When the waves pick up on Lake Ontario and it gets cold enough, the icicles found in the trees along the shoreline are a sight to behold.
Trash-Can Carmichael - Oil on Canvass. 6'x6'
Trash-Can Carmichael - Oil on Canvass. 6'x6' This canvass was found in the discard room at Gibraltar point (hence the "trash can" reference). My first foray into oil painting of this magnitude. The sucker took weeks to dry.

She kicks and the clouds part - Acrylic on Canvass. 2.5'x3.3' Sophia Perlman came to visit one day and I snapped a photo of her on the swings behind the school.  It was the perfect image for the day.

#500, Self Portrait. Acrylic on CanvassEvery 100 portraits I do a selfie.  This one celebrates my 5 years as a painter and since I started in ernest.  There's gold-leaf paint in the background, though the photo doesn't quite pick it up.  My new favourite product is "goldleaf" by Daler Rowney.  Hard to find - but well worth it.

The Creepy Lighthouse. Acrylic on Canvass. 3.5'x6'
The Creepy Lighthouse. Acrylic on Canvass. 3.5'x6' I found a completely black-primed canvass in the discard room at Gibraltar Point.  Using only white paint, I did up this view of the Gibraltar Point Lighthouse which sits directly across from Artscape.  It was built in 1808 and boasts being the oldest lighthouse on the Great Lakes and the second oldest lighthouse in Canada.  And.... It's haunted... I made the mistake of googling the story before returning to the island. For a guy with an active imagination, that's probably not a good idea....

The Red Tree - Acrylic on Canvass. 2.5'x3'I did this up for Doug McKeag, who came to visit one day and honoured me with a commission for his lovely home in Calgary.  He asked for a tree.... this seemed like the thing to do.
Looking Up - Acrylic on Canvass
Looking Up - Acrylic on CanvassIn exchange for room and board I'll do up a big canvass.  This one went to Carmen Grant and James Wright.... The best of hosts.

Sara Peel, Acrylic and Heavy Gel on Canvass
Sara Peel, Acrylic and Heavy Gel on CanvassExploring tactile paintings with heavy gel and Gold Leaf paint.  The ridges are dense and the canvass weighs much more than the usual portraits.
Bindu - Acrylic and heavy gel on Canvass
Bindu - Acrylic and heavy gel on CanvassContinuing my tactile art series - paintings meant to be touched!I mixed heavy gel with acrylic for a sculptural experience.  I've also added sparkle-y bits and mediums for my low-vision friends to enjoy.

Sunset, P.E.I. - Acrylic on Canvass. 3'x5'One year ago I found myself on a small farm in P.E.I.  It was the best of times.  The photos from my trip still fill my hard drive and I could work from them for years and years.
